About Me

My name is Amanda Meri although you may see me still holding on to my maiden name Milisits from time to time. I have been a registered nurse since 2008, but I have known that helping others heal has been my calling since I was a child.

I completed my Master’s Degree in 2019 and firmly believed that I would not return to school for at least another decade to obtain my PhD. I was so burned out from work and graduate school that I couldn’t entertain the thought of returning to academia any time soon. That was until my health began declining more rapidly. At the time, I was already experiencing hair loss, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, acid reflux, chronic fatigue syndrome, joint pain, painful periods, difficulty with weight management, mood swings, itchy skin and acne to name a few. But they all amped up and culminated in me experiencing brain fog each day where I found myself stumbling over words during important work meetings. With hopes to feel better, I tried different cleanses and fad diets to minimal effects which were temporary and unsustained.

Fast forward to 2020, I got engaged and married within four months. During that time, I realized that I was likely in the fast lane to facing disability within the next 10 years, and that freaked me out. Since I knew that I had some kind of issue with gluten or grains, I took it upon myself to remove gluten from my diet for 30 days to see how I would feel. I slowly reintroduced a small amount of gluten into my diet and felt miserable within 10 minutes. I tried this a few times, and although it sounds silly, I just had to know for sure it was gluten. I felt brain fog, joint pain, extreme fatigue, nasal congestion and migraines each time. I was also exposed to toxic mold around the same time. I knew a quick intervention was critical in gaining my life back.

Enough was enough, I quit my cushy six figure director position with all of its perks and benefits to focus 100% on my health. Today, I can confidently say that I don’t have a single regret about it. I enrolled into an accelerated, integrative nutrition health coaching program and a gut health course to further understand health and wellness. Today, most of my autoimmune conditions are gone and I honestly believe this decision has saved my life and has allowed me to help others save theirs.
